Born and raised in Hong Kong, Polly Lam’s involvement in art extends beyond a two-dimensional canvas. Instead, Lam’s involvement in the art world extends beyond the standing canvas, but through physical body rhythmic movements and body gestures. From a shy girl to an open-minded young woman exposed to contemporary dance and ballet, Lam broke free from the restraints of her childhood and took a leap into the world of art upon graduation. Ballet offers Polly Lam her basic understanding of dance principles, but it is jazz and contemporary dance that keep her dancing shoes on, ever evolving while keeping the music on while discovering new dance moves and choreographies.

Inspired by current affairs, news, and an abundant range of music, Polly Lam perfects her musicality by feeling the music, more so than trying to understand every word in the lyrics, but grew to feel the cadence, flow, and the mood of music to reinterpret as dance moves. While Polly Lam is a keen Christian by religion, she remains truthful to her feelings and be creative at heart. Her proactive stance to take on the collaboration with AURUM is a useful reminder of the significance to express one’s internal mood and vibes through a measure of the art, and in Polly Lam’s own ways, an authentic choreography of gestures and movements where she opens up and allow the music to reach and guide her along.
